Volunteer Program

To become a volunteer, you must first have a criminal record check done. This should be free when done for volunteer purposes. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application form and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Volunteers are the heart of our organization and there are a variety of ways you can help. We are especially in need of people with skills that they would be willing to share with the community, i.e. a carpenter or craftsperson to instruct a group of children to build a birdhouse, etc.

1.Are you a good listener?

Carol Clark, coordinator of our Community Support Volunteer Program is looking for additional volunteers to provide a “listening ear” and support to others through basic problem solving. This program is provided at no cost and is open to anyone requesting the service.

If you are professionally trained in counselling and could contribute one or more hours weekly we would love to have you as part of our team. If you don’t have training but want to help, a training program in “peer counselling” will be offered. Please contact Carol for more information.

2.Do you know how to use a hammer and saw?

The move to our new building will require many hours of renovation work. Any help from community members with donated or reduced price materials or volunteer labour would be HUGELY appreciated.

3.Are you looking for a way to “pay it forward” to our community?

We estimate a donation of $5000 would pay for the renovations needed for our Pre-natal Healthiest Babies Possible program. We expect the cost to provide our Community Kitchen to be approximately $4000. A gift of $1000 would provide for our desperately needed Child-sized toilet facilities. Please think about the impact such a gift from you or your family would make to many families now and in the future. ~~~Tax receipts are available upon request~~~
